The lovely little Pig’s favorite hobby was gardening. He learned the skill from his Grandpa Pig who taught him the love and care for flowers. Thus, the Pig’s garden is now a beautiful site where flowers and birds sing and dance together. One day, the Pig visits the Horse’s Garden from where he usually buys the plants. In the Horse’s Garden, the Pig finds a beautiful vine plant with heavenly flowers on it. Pig - “Wow... This is so beautiful.. I have never seen flowers like this before” Horse - “You need it? I have another plant with me” Pig - “That is wonderful! Yes I need it” The Horse smiles and gifts him the plant of the wonderful vine. Excited, the Pig takes the plant to his garden. He searches for a nice place for the special plant and finally finds a place near a stone wall at the back of his garden. With immense love, the Pig waters the plant everyday. Soon, the plant begins to grow and there are wonderful green leaves all over it. Days pass by but the Pig finds no flowers blooming. The Pig had so loved the flowers he found in the Horse’s garden and he is totally sad that the same is not happening here in his garden. The Pig starts to get worried; Pig - “What happened to you dear plant? Have I done something wrong? Are you angry on me?” The Poor little Pig continues to water and feed the plant everyday, but still, he finds no flowers on it. One day, the Pig hugs the plant and cries; Pig - “Forgive me if I have done something wrong dear plant... Please bloom. Please make this place beautiful with your flowers”. The Pig continues his efforts but still finds no flowers coming from the plant. One day, he stands in front of the plant with a small axe thinking to cut it down. But, somehow he doesn’t get the courage to do it. Pig - “No... I cannot do it”. Then, one day, as the Pig was sitting disappointed in his garden, his neighbor, the Bear comes running towards him excited. Bear - “Thanks a lot dear friend! I really love the flowers of the vine you planted” The Pig is totally surprised to hear this. Pig - “Flowers? Of my Vine? But my Vine has not produced any flowers?” Bear - “Who said? Come with me” The Bear takes the Pig to his yard and there, the Pig finds his Plant filled with spectacular flowers. The Vine plant had gone through a small crack in the wall, to the other side of the fence, and there it bloomed wonderfully. Pig - “Woooow... How beautiful they are” Bear - “Didn’t I tell you”. The Bear hugs the Pig in joy. Bear - “You are so great my dear friend. This is due to your efforts” The Pig has tears in his eyes. Pig - “I thought all my efforts were wasted. I thought this plant will never bloom. I even thought Bear - “What happened?” of cutting it down once”. The Bear smiles. Bear - “My dear friend... No sincere effort is ever a waste. You may not always see good results but that doesn’t mean your hard work has no value.” The Pig wipes off the tears and smiles. They both look at the beautiful flowers in the plant. Pig - You are right dear friend. Effort is what matters. Not the result.
